What to expect

As a Person-centred counsellor, my purpose is to walk beside you on your journey, working at your own pace, whilst offering you a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you can work through difficulties with my support. This space will enable you to reflect on the emotions that may be causing the difficulties and explore a way forward to a more comfortable state of being and a way of coping better.

How counselling can help

Counselling can be effective for a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, work related stress, relationships, just to name a few. It’s an opportunity to explore a range of choices and at the same time safely experiencing a relief linked with the freedom to share your thoughts and feelings in a confidential environment.

Counselling is not a magic cure but the hope is to improve your emotional well-being by developing a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings and creating tools to allow you to experience yourself and others in new ways that feel comfortable and acceptable, in the hope that negative feelings give way to a happier way of being.

Talking through thoughts and feelings with a trained counsellor can help you to:

  • Understand yourself better
  • Feel supported
  • Deepen self-awareness and self-understanding, encouraging personal growth and self-acceptance
  • Build positive relationships
  • work through challenges
  • Build resilience and increase your confidence
  • Understand why you may feel the way you do and steps to go about feeling and thinking differently
  • Manage your feelings and emotional well-being in order to change behaviour patterns and make changes in your life

What happens when you get in touch with me

Once you have made contact with me, we will arrange a suitable time for an initial assessment (via telephone conversation) which will be at no cost. This will give me a better understanding of your needs and also gauge if my methods of counselling may be helpful to you. We will discuss how we could work together to suit your needs. We will also discuss what you hope to gain from the sessions. After our discussion if you decide you want to go ahead with counselling, we will mutually agree on session days and times. My session times are mostly evenings and weekends and I offer both short and long term counselling.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, I would love to hear from you.
